Our well-honed design process takes the stress out of a custom home, remodel, or decorating project. Each step is designed to give you peace of mind, knowing every detail has been thoughtfully considered.

Step 1: Consultation

Every design starts with a phone call to discuss your project. It’s also an opportunity for you to learn more about Nico Interior Design – what we do and how we do it.

We will schedule an in-home/on-site consultation to gather the specifics of the project, assess your needs, and discuss the project’s scope, budget and timing.

The consultation provides clients with an opportunity to work with a designer from Nico Interior Design who will provide valuable information, resources and ideas for your design project, such as recommendations for your layout, materials, fixtures, color palette and more. This is also an opportunity to learn more about our design process and project management services. The design consultation lasts for 90 minutes and costs $250. 

Step 2: DESIGN PLAN

After the consultation, Nico Interior Design will create a design proposal that outlines the scope of your project. After agreeing on the design proposal, the real work begins! 

Nico Interior Design will take measurements, create technical plans and meet any other trade partners required for the project, to develop a tailor-made design for your space.  After receiving your feedback, we will make any necessary changes and finalize all technical plans. 

During the design phase, Nico Interior Design will generate all cabinetry plans and select all materials, fixtures and accessories for the project. Project scope may also include window treatments, furnishings and décor. We also provide these services as stand-alone decorating projects.

We present all materials, fixtures, accessories, furnishings and decor selections to you using visual schematics created for your custom home, remodel or decorating project. 

Step 3: PROJECT MANAGEMENT

After approval of the design, we will create an estimated budget for all components of the project.

We will assist you with selecting the right contractor, reviewing proposed timelines, and provide final drawings and detailed specifications for the construction phase. At this point, Nico Interior Design will begin the process of purchasing all items identified in the design plan.

To help you manage your budget, we offer the option for flat fee pricing on larger interior architecture and design projects.

Step 4: CONSTRUCTION

Throughout construction, we will work closely with the contractors and visit the job site regularly to oversee that the work is progressing on schedule and as planned.

During this time, Nico Interior Design will continue to communicate with you regularly (weekly or more) to address any of your concerns. 

Following construction, we will coordinate the delivery and installation of your furnishings and accessories so that you can now enjoy your new space.
